this is a perfect example of the media shoving celebrities in your face and over loading the media with crap that has no meaning to anyone with all of the different wars and struggles going on in this world they load the news with these two stupid idiots getting married they call them tomkat when they might as well be a dead kat

Obviously someone cares, why else would this be news?
Do the news media have a responsibility to ignore "celebrity"? Should they ignore the "economic imperative" that they currently serve in favor of giving the public what they NEED (which would raise the question, how would they decide what it is that we NEED to hear?)
I believe this raises questions regarding the elitest/populist dichotomy and the entertainment/information dichotomy of the media. Are these boundries blurred more today than in the past? Are they likely to be blurred further in the future? Is there any proof that this has any effect (positive or negative) on the public?
Look, if the news doesn't report this, then what else am I going to talk about while I'm getting my hair done?
I'm with ya. Who friggin cares?! Bigger fish to fry.
